Sounds like a air leak or reeds could be a chance something in the Carb is causing it. 2 smokers are a piece of cake to rebuild the bottom end. Pm sent

high idle on start up is common on yz250s but a really really high idle is from something causing the bike to run LEAN. Check for airleaks and check your carb for issues. I doubt this is the prob, but you might want to double check your gas...

have u fallen lately? One time on my KX125 i fell, when i tried to start it again it idled at wide open. It was weird cuz the tube wasnt stuck and felt normal. Wat the problem was where the throttle cable threads into the throttle tube. It had tightened up somehow. Weird how just maybe a few fractions of a inch tighter would make it idle at wide open. So maybe that cud be ur problem. Just idea off top of my head.
I Miss Premix :(

Its not a matter of if your 4stroke will blow but when

My friend Matt had this problem one day. It was a air leak.

Sweet!!!!! i cant believe it ran with that much fuel running thru it.. Almost 70% of problems come from the carb

Yeah that's far from blown up! I too am amazed that the bike would start with that much fuel running through it. Gotta love 2 strokes.
